The Issue Analyzed...Compassion and Solidarity

This issue is important to me for a number of reasons. I come from a family full of veterans. Almost every war/conflict since WWII has had a member of my family intimately involved with it. Even if this was not the case, all Americans are are involved with war, and thus, are connected to veterans. We often hear reminders that we owe a debt of gratitude to those who have risked their lives to protect our freedom. And this is absolutely true. We have a holiday dedicated to veterans and we take time to remember them on in November and again in May, but often times these holidays are reserved for a long weekend vacation. Unfortunately, the full meaning often gets overlooked. My passion is not centered on these two weekends though. We owe more than that. We owe compassion and solidarity.
