The Issues...Why should I care?...

This issue is of interest for a number of reasons. A severe injustice in healthcare for veterans has recently been exposed and discussed at length in the national media, but this has been an issue dating back many decades. For years, at particularly after the early wars of our country, mental health issues that resulted from active duty went undiagnosed and caused immeasurable harm to individuals and families across the United States. Even though we have become better at diagnosing these health issues, there is still a lack of access to healthcare and a stigma still exists as well. This has become an enormous social justice issue of our time.
